PINOY INDI BANDS / UNDERGROUND SCENCE

PINOY INDI BANDS / UNDERGROUND SCENCE

here are a few head banging pinoy bands of the pinoy underground scene thai I really like
=) i hope you like them too.

Pentavia

They were five hungry souls yearning to fly with their music and have the army of souls like them to experience their freedom; as Pentavia, derived from two words ‘penta’ and ‘avia’, means five in flight or five wings symbolizing man’s limitless boundaries. Their music is hard to classify but many consider them to be a distinct entity in the Hardcore/Heavy Metal scene with highly amplified harmonized guitars to chugging riffs and gut busting bass licks synchronized with the earth-rumbling groovy to fast tempo drum beats giving a combined feeling of being swallowed by the ground and surfing in the clouds; while the poetry of the vocals are belted out in a manner far imagined. Respect and Support to other bands have been bannered by Pentavia since the time they started

Saydie

Saydie

saydie (sey..~di:) five piece rock band born on april of 2003 comprised of kat-vox, MAJik-bass, gerard-guitars, monx-guitars, and SKinny J-drums. Their music is a monochrome of sound and art that fail the criteria of mediocrity since their music remains nonpareil. "We've chosen not to button down this art that we make and share to others simply because what ever it is that you hear is what you get. For saydie? music is an outlet of reality and the different deliusion and emotions of life, therefore it should be free and abstract."

Katty Taylor - Vocals

Six string samurai

A Metal core band with such prowess and aggressssion of guitar pattern and heavy Raptured drum beat..
and with a hauntingly cold male vocals that suddenly roars..an angst core growl
Your ears will surely want more.

The band was founded last April of 2003. Original members were: Marvin(lead/rhythm);Rex(bass);Chard(drums)&Sen(vox). The band vies and won several ‘Battle of the bands’. Subsequently, by early 2004, john(percussion)joined the group and performed a number of ‘gigs’ in more than a few bars along Manila, and Quezon City. On late 2004, Sen(vox)& john(percs)relinquished their duty with 6SS and created another group. Early 2005,quest for 6SS vox set off… Later on 2005, new vox(jovel) and new guitars(henry) were tried out and performances (in Freedom Bar and PUP Octoberfests)were made.
Early March 2006, 6SS tried out another vox(jc) with their first appearance @ Puple Haze, Marikina for john’s(former percs)birthday. Performance was followed with few more gigs at Nightwish bar, Mayrics’,Center for the Arts.
all of our band members are currently at manila because all of us study at the same school,P.U.P. Sta. Mesa, but both lead guitarist and drummer originally reside at Quezon province..making us a South Luzon Area representative)
Hailing from Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP Sta. Mesa),Sixstring Samurai started out as a band doing alternative and rap metal covers.Years have passed, the band underwent various line up changes, including the change of 3 vocalists and a former percussionist.
After 2 years of the bands’ unstable lineup (including a temporary breakup), they’ve decided to form the band once more, and now, have finally made the right formula to make their music melodically heavy, catchy and creative all at the same time. Rather than finding another percussionist, they have added a new guitarist instead to make their sound more melodic and intense. To sum up the bands’ sound, they’ve set up an auditon in their school to get a vocalist suitable for their music. Their influences are drastically way different from each other. Bassist Rhekz’s genre ranges from pop, jazz to bossa. Drummer Richard listens to alternative and hard rock.Lead Guitarist, Marvin "mav" prefers metalcore, trash and death metal while newly hired guitarist, Henry listens to jazz, prog and melodic metal.
Due to this genre clash, they needed a vocalist that can provide and sing to their melodic needs, but at the same time, indulge into their urge for brutality. They needed someone versatile and hired the last piece needed for the band,a schoolmate as well,Jaycee. After another 2 years with the said lineup, Sixstring Samurai has played several gigs around the metro, but the bands’ fave venue is at their school,PUP. The band is a mainstay at their campus everytime there is a gig. The band has made a reputation of performing aggresively and lively, thus creating a small fanbase at their campus and was supported by fellow school bands and schoolmates. And up until now,Sixstring Samurai aims nothing more but to give a 101% percent performance at every show to satisfy every audiencE and listener

Whorelocke

Whorelocke gives birth to a new fine approach to modern metal music merging thrash, melodic death, gothic, and a catchy songwriting delivery. The band's concept combines a little of the dark poetry incantations with a straightforward innocence of feminine angst, love, vulnerability and dignity.

The band was conceived by a girl (Cassie) driven to shout out female life's little tragedies through art --- her poetry, the lyrics, and chugging angstcore music which made extraordinary by an extreme vocal range from deep guttural growls to aggressive deadly screams and mournful melodic tune. She started with the name, and collaborated with her godfather Southcore band, SIN, on year 2002, featuring on one of SIN's songs while looking for her members.

She later on hooked up with the former bassgurl, Faith, on late December 2002, met her coming from her former band, Fall From Grace. The two girls together sought out for potential members and finally came across their drummer, Hun, who was in a band before with SIN's present vocalist, Charles. The search for a guitarist had been a bit hard, for they wanted a sound which is distinctive and quite refined from the others. Hun later brought in Tochi, former guitarist of Pedros Cannabis, Camote Chunks, and was also tugged by Stagnant, another Southcore brood. Tochi thereon, immediately teamed-up with Ivan, who was the former guitarist and one of the founding members of Stagnant, and within 3 months (January to March 2003), the band already finished four vocal-abusive, riff grinding, and sampler-free songs which they proudly play on frequenting gigs up to now.

By the end of May 2003, due to her unresolved lack of commitment to the band, they replaced the dropped bassist Faith with another she, another whore-rifying female bassbabe who now also plays for her husband's metal band Sacrilegion. Her name is Leda Angela and she finally came out with them early on June 2003, introducing together with the song, FALLEN DISGRACE, which most certainly opened up the transition of Whorelocke's evolving sound.

Damned Angel

Before the beginning of year 2004, the band started progressing from small bar gigs to major concert events playing with mainstream acts and started recording their first self-produced, raw demo CD titled, "Tamed Angel" with four of their songs. By May 2004, they started distributing it to producers of local big tour events including Urge Super X-treme Games and the Red Horse Muziklaban 2004 Rock Challenge which took them surviving till the semi-finals from Batangas to Lucena City. Unfortunately, their guitarist, Ivan, had been too busy with personal matters at home that he had to pass the previous events up to which the band had decided to stick to four-piece. This made the remaining 4 (FOUR) members much more focused on writing new songs of their own without losing Whorelocke's distinctive style.

September 2004 proved their latest achievement at the Ultra being a part of the very first Rockista event, which gave them their biggest break so far playing with over 20 mainstream acts including Pepe Smith who played his longest version of "Ang Himig Natin" using Tochi's Les Paul which marked the guitar a precious, sacred idol for these 4 inspired newbies, leading them with a much solid perspective to push through with their creations...

Ending year 2005, the band decided to take a break to finish their college and post-graduate studies for more than 2 years, leaving a remarkable song, "DECEIVER" which they played live at 6 UNDERGROUND in Makati being the very first underground metal act to play at the bar and was chosen to be included on 6UG's compilation album "Live & Raw" released on 2006, lining up alongside The Dawn, Rivermaya, Kjwan, Pepe Smith and Skychurch. July 2008 they finally fired up a comeback to continue playing and creating metal music, contributing a diverse sound that is distinctively WHORELOCKE."

Damned Angel derived from the term broken perception (not all that is beautiful is good) is about struggle of eccentric children to free them from stereo-type adult dominated and norm ridden society. Formed in 2006 by PUP psychology students their bands music is diverse  fussing melancholic lyrics with a touch of brutal cursing aggressive guitars and deep guttural growls
