Gido - Witch and the Beast

 

Guideau (ギド Gido) is the main protagonist of the story. She is a young "human" who travels with the high mage Ashaf in search of the witch who cursed her into her current female form.

Guideau's true form is that of a Beast and is considered the only natural enemy of witches. This form is contained within the coffin carried by Ashaf, keeping it in check. Guideau can only release it temporarily if she kisses a witch, which partially breaks the curse.

Appearance

Guideau has the appearance of a petite young woman with fair skin and long, straight blonde hair, complemented by bangs. She has thick black lashes and striking yellow eyes with vertical slit pupils. Guideau sports six piercings—three on each ear—and sharp, long fangs. Her attire is always stylish, and she changes outfits frequently.

Personality

Guideau is short-tempered, impulsive, violent, and vindictive. Her focus is singular: finding Angela, the witch who cursed her, and seeking revenge. Despite her aggressive nature, Guideau is also quite obedient to Ashaf, often complaining but still following his orders. Her relationship with Ashaf is complex, as she frequently threatens to kill him once she gets Angela to lift the curse, though they share a bond of mutual reliance.

Though her violent tendencies are strong, Guideau shows a caring side, especially when she is entrusted with the Nameless Seed, a forbidden instrument. She takes care of a young boy, alongside the Cursed Doll, until the time comes to part with him. The boy grows attached to her, a testament to Guideau's nurturing, albeit unrefined, nature.

Plot

Crimson/Sanguine Lotus City Arc

Guideau and Ashaf arrive at Sanguine Lotus train station and inquire about the Witch's whereabouts. They meet Marie, who claims to be the Witch's apprentice. Their conversation is interrupted when the station is attacked. A witch named Ione, renowned as the "Heroic Witch," appears and subdues the attacker. Guideau, agitated, tries to confront Ione but is captured. Ashaf rescues her, and they retreat.

They later visit the Witch's house, where they are greeted by Marie, who turns them away, explaining that an important event is happening. Ashaf reviews the data he requested from The Order and discovers that the event is related to the Witch’s plans.

The duo rushes to confront the Witch, but on their way out of the hotel, they are confronted by the local police who wish to arrest them for their earlier confrontation with Ione. Guideau and Ashaf quickly overpower the police and reach the Witch’s home, where Ione is preparing a ritual involving the severed limbs of several girls, including Marie. Guideau breaks through the building’s glass roof to engage Ione in a battle. Ashaf forms a protective barrier around the girls, but Ione overwhelms them.

Ione reveals that she has collected the girls as "keys" to release the hellfire that once engulfed Sanguine Lotus City. Her goal is to bring chaos and revenge for the prejudice her family faced. Guideau manages to outwit Ione and kisses her, temporarily lifting the curse. Guideau’s true form is unleashed, overpowering Ione. However, since the curse is only temporarily lifted, Guideau reverts to her female form.

Guideau’s original form, when the curse is lifted, is extremely powerful. In her true form, Guideau is capable of battling witches and other powerful beings with ease, often overpowering them despite their magical prowess.

• Cursed Right Arm: Guideau's right arm is a potent Forbidden Instrument with immense power. She uses it only against the most formidable of foes.

• Armored Left Arm: In battle, Guideau uses her left arm to minimize damage, though it still delivers powerful blows.

• Deflection: Guideau’s left arm can generate a shield that deflects incoming attacks.
