The Dark Gods are inspired by a mix of ancient Europe dark mythology and Philippines Visayan and Bicolano oral myths and legends. They combine European gothic gods, demons, warlords, and underworld beings with the volcanic power, spirits, moon myths, and ancient supernatural stories of Bicol mythology.

The first six gods are primarily inspired by a fusion of dark Europe mythological and fantasy traditions combined with ancient Philippines Bicolano mythology. Their themes draw from volcanic divine imagery, underworld spirits, celestial horrors, ancient warrior gods, and apocalyptic legends found in both traditions.

Vorthak the Hollow King

God of: Despair, Silence, Forgotten Graves
Domain: The Hollow Sepulcher  an endless black desert filled with buried cities, silent storms, and gigantic cracked tombs beneath a dead moon.

Appearance

Vorthak is impossibly tall and wrapped in layered obsidian armor fused directly into his flesh. His face is hidden behind a cracked stone mask with faint blue fire leaking through the cracks. Chains drag behind him endlessly, and ravens perch along his shoulders without ever moving.

Personality

Cold, patient, and eerily calm. Vorthak never raises his voice. He believes all hope eventually dies, so he sees despair as the purest truth. Despite his terrifying nature, he honors loyalty and remembers every soul who ever served him.

• Can silence all sound in entire kingdoms
• Raises forgotten dead as “Hollow Knights”
• Absorbs courage and replaces it with dread
• Creates grave-storms that erase memories
• Can imprison souls inside stone masks

Nysera the Veiled

Goddess of: Secrets, Poison, Seduction
Domain: The Velvet Labyrinth  a  living palace of black roses, silver mirrors, and endless candlelit halls where reality constantly shifts.

Appearance

Nysera appears as a stunning woman with silver skin and flowing black hair that moves like liquid smoke. She wears elegant dark silk covered in living serpents. Her eyes are completely white, and her smile is both beautiful and terrifying.

Personality

Manipulative, intelligent, and endlessly curious. Nysera enjoys turning enemies against one another rather than destroying them directly. She collects secrets like treasures and despises brute force.

Powers

• Reads hidden desires and fears
• Creates deadly poisons from shadows
• Changes appearance instantly
• Traps victims in illusionary dream-worlds
• Commands venomous creatures and shadow serpents

Draven Mordrake

God of: War, Blood, Fury
Domain: The Iron Abyss  a volcanic wasteland covered in burning battlefields, rivers of molten iron, and gigantic war machines powered by souls.

Appearance

Draven resembles a heavily muscled warrior with charcoal-black skin cracked by glowing magma beneath. Massive horns curve from his skull, and his armor is made from weapons melted together. His eyes burn red like furnaces.

Personality

Aggressive, proud, and fearless. Draven values strength above everything. He respects warriors who fight bravely, even his enemies. He despises cowardice and weakness.

Powers

• Gains strength from nearby violence
• Summons flaming weapons from the air
• Creates earthquakes with his footsteps
• Turns armies into berserk blood-crazed warriors
• Cannot be killed during battle 

Elythra the Moon-Eater

Goddess of: Nightmares, Madness, Eclipses
Domain: The Bleeding Sky  a floating realm beneath a permanent eclipse where shattered moons drift through crimson clouds.

Appearance

Elythra has pale blue skin covered in glowing runes. Six black wings extend from her back, each shedding ash-like feathers. Her eyes resemble tiny eclipses, and shadowy hands constantly emerge from her cloak before fading away.

Personality

Unpredictable and deeply unsettling. Elythra speaks in riddles and often laughs during moments of tragedy. She sees madness as enlightenment and enjoys breaking mortal minds to “free” them.

Powers

• Invades dreams and corrupts sanity
• Creates eternal eclipses
• Summons nightmare beasts from darkness
• Can split her form into hundreds of shadow copies
• Causes prophetic visions that drive mortals insane

Kaelzar the Devourer

God of: Hunger, Consumption, Endless Winter
Domain: The Frozen Maw  a gigantic icy abyss where blizzards howl endlessly and colossal skeletal creatures wander the snow.

Appearance

Kaelzar is  child that can transform into a a gigantic skeletal figure draped in frozen animal pelts. His ribcage glows with pale blue light, and his jaw can unhinge unnaturally wide. Frost constantly forms around him.

Personality

Relentless and primal. Kaelzar cares little for politics or worship. He represents survival through destruction. To him, existence itself is an endless feast where only predators endure.

Powers

• Freezes entire oceans instantly
• Devours magic and souls alike
• Summons blizzards that never end
• Creates monstrous frost beasts
• Weakens enemies through starvation and exhaustion

Zarethis the Black Flame

God of: Chaos, Forbidden Magic, Ruin
Domain: The Shattered Throne  a collapsing dimension of floating ruins, upside-down towers, burning skies, and rivers of black fire.

Appearance

Zarethis wears flowing robes made of living darkness with burning gold symbols across them. His body constantly shifts between human and skeletal forms. Black flames rise from his hands and crown.

Personality

Charismatic, theatrical, and dangerously ambitious. Zarethis believes creation itself is flawed and seeks to destroy reality so something stronger can emerge from the ashes.

Powers

• Casts forbidden spells capable of destroying cities
• Corrupts holy magic into dark energy
• Opens portals into unstable dimensions
• Controls black fire that burns both matter and souls
• Can rewrite small pieces of reality temporarily

Baal the Horned Tyrant

God of: Tyranny, Fanaticism, Conquest, Sacrifice
Domain: The Obsidian Sun Throne  a colossal black citadel rising from the endless deserts of Baaliania, surrounded by burning temples, sacrificial arenas, and oceans of golden sand stained red by war.

Appearance

Baal is a towering horned deity with dark bronze skin covered in glowing crimson markings. His massive curved horns resemble those of a demonic bull god. He wears black-and-gold armor decorated with skulls and burning symbols. A crown of black fire hovers above his head, and his glowing red eyes radiate pure hatred. Behind him hangs a giant torn cloak that moves like living smoke.

Personality

Cruel, charismatic, and utterly merciless. Baal sees mortals as tools meant to worship or perish. He inspires absolute devotion through fear, power, and promises of conquest. Entire empires kneel willingly before him, believing him to be the one true divine ruler.

• Commands massive fanatical armies through divine influence
• Creates black sandstorms that consume cities
• Feeds on sacrifice and worship to grow stronger
• Corrupts minds into violent zealotry
• Summons pillars of crimson hellfire from the sky
• Can transform into a gigantic horned shadow-beast during war

Worshippers

The desert empire of Baaliania worships him as the supreme god, with millions of loyal followers and extremist warrior cults serving in his name. Far beyond the deserts, the distant land of Baalstan also honors him through dark rituals and massive black temples.

Lumia the Eclipse Prince

God of: Moonlight, Silence, Reflection, Fate
Domain: The Silver Veil  a peaceful celestial realm of floating moon temples, silver lakes, eternal night skies, and glowing white cherry blossom trees beneath enormous moons.

Appearance

Lumia is an androgynous moon deity of breathtaking beauty. Pale luminous skin glows softly beneath elegant flowing black robes embroidered with silver constellations. Long silver-white hair falls to the waist, moving gently like water in zero gravity. Their eyes shine with soft moonlight, shifting between silver and pale blue. A thin crescent halo floats behind their head.

Personality

Calm, mysterious, and deeply wise. Lumia rarely speaks loudly and values balance over conflict. Unlike the darker gods, Lumia believes destiny can be guided rather than controlled. Mortals often describe feeling peace merely by standing in their presence.

• Creates powerful illusions from reflections
• Can calm rage, fear, and madness
• Opens portals during eclipses
• Sees fragments of possible futures
• Summons silver moonfire that purifies corruption

Lore

Lumia is one of the legendary Seven Moon Gods worshipped across the eastern kingdoms of the continent. Temples dedicated to Lumia are often hidden within mountains, bamboo forests, and sacred lakes.
