Roan the Dread knight

Roan – The Dread Knight

Roan is a young red-haired squire with pale skin, sharp green eyes, and a clever smile that often hides his true thoughts. Though not the strongest warrior, he is quick-witted, agile, and exceptionally fast with both his hands and feet. Roan survived through cunning rather than brute force. He is skilled at sneaking through shadows, picking locks, stealing keys unnoticed, and escaping danger before enemies can react. Many underestimate him because of his youth and lean appearance, only to realize too late how dangerous he truly is.

The sand mage gifted him an ancient pendant infused with forbidden desert magic. When activated, the pendant releases a terrifying sand spirit  an evil wraith formed from swirling sand and dark energy. The spirit emerges to defend Roan with ruthless violence, tearing through enemies before dissolving back into dust and returning to the pendant once the battle ends. Though loyal to Roan, the spirit constantly whispers dark thoughts into his mind.

Roan later discovered a cursed ring tied to an ancient forgotten order of black knights. When he wears the ring, he temporarily transforms into his terrifying alter ego:

Roan was never meant to become a legend.

He began as a squire  pale-skinned, red-haired, lean rather than strong, with quick fingers and quicker thoughts. While other squires trained with shields and lances beneath the banners of noble houses, Roan learned different skills. He could slip unnoticed through crowded halls, unlock iron doors with a bent nail, and disappear into shadows before guards even realized he had been there. He survived not through strength, but wit. Fast hands, sharp eyes, and a tongue clever enough to talk himself out of trouble.

Many underestimated him because of his age.

Roan the Dread Knight.

Gone was the agile young squire.

In his place stood a towering knight clad in blackened armor, massive and monstrous, like a warlord pulled from nightmares. His voice deepened into something inhuman. His strength became overwhelming. Arrows shattered against him. Men fled at the sound of his footsteps.

In battle, the Dread Knight wielded two terrible swords.

The first was a colossal claymore  heavy, brutal, and stained with the force of countless executions. It was his favored weapon, capable of cleaving armored warriors in half with a single swing.

The second blade was rarer and more feared:

An obsidian-black sword forged to destroy magic itself.

Against sorcerers and cursed beings, the blade drank spells upon contact, unraveling enchantments and shattering magical attacks as if extinguishing flames in darkness. Many powerful mages who stood against Roan believed themselves untouchable  until the obsidian blade silenced their power forever.

As the Dread Knight, Roan became nearly unstoppable.

Vicious.

Relentless.

A walking catastrophe on the battlefield.

Yet the ring carried a terrible curse.

The longer Roan remained transformed, the more the armor consumed him. Rage overtook reason. Friend and foe became meaningless. His mind drowned beneath endless bloodlust until only the berserker remained  a black titan that slaughtered everything before him.

Many feared the Dread Knight.

But those closest to Roan feared the moment he would no longer return from behind the helmet.

Roan the Dread Knight

In this form, Roan becomes a towering black-armored knight of immense strength and unstoppable aggression. His armor is dark as midnight, heavy and intimidating, with glowing crimson eyes behind a horned helmet. His presence alone spreads fear across the battlefield.

The Dread Knight wields two powerful swords:

  • A massive claymore — his primary weapon, capable of crushing armor and cleaving enemies apart with brutal force.
  • An obsidian-black blade — reserved for powerful magic users. This cursed sword can cancel, absorb, and destroy magical attacks, making it especially deadly against sorcerers and enchanted creatures.

As the Dread Knight, Roan becomes vicious and nearly unstoppable in combat. He fights like a force of destruction, overwhelming enemies with raw power and relentless attacks. However, the ring carries a terrible curse. If Roan remains transformed for too long, the darkness consumes his mind completely. He loses control, becoming a berserker incapable of distinguishing friend from foe.

At that point, to the Dread Knight…

Everyone becomes an enemy.
