House Pharelumière

House Pharelumière

(from old courtly French: “Phare” meaning lighthouse, and “Lumière” meaning light  together, “Beacon of Light”)

An ancient noble house of golden-haired chevaliers sworn to righteousness, sacred vows, and the protection of the weak. Their banners bear the silver unicorn, symbol of purity, courage, and impossible virtue. Across the western kingdoms, the knights of House Pharelumière are known as “The White Lances.”

Their ancestral seat is Château Clairécume, a pale fortress built atop sea cliffs where a great lighthouse burns day and night.

Shared Unicorn Blessing (House Trait)

All members of House Pharelumière carry a faint shared miracle:

  • soft golden-white aura in moments of righteousness or defense of the innocent
  • resistance to fear and dark enchantments
  • subtle “presence of truth” that unsettles evil beings

Their magic is never overwhelming, always restrained, elegant, and tied to chivalry rather than destruction.

House Words

“Through Light, We Endure.”

Other common sayings of the house:

  • “Honor before victory.”
  • “No shadow survives the dawn.”
  • “The unicorn kneels only to truth.”

  • pale blond or golden hair

Dynamics Between the Brothers

  • Lucien represents duty and political reality.
  • Celestine represents pure chivalric virtue.
  • Alaric represents youthful idealism and freedom.

Together they are called:

“The Three Lights of Pharelumière.”

Though they argue often, their loyalty to one another is absolute.

Reputation of the House

Across the realm:

  • peasants pray for Pharelumière knights to defend them
  • corrupt nobles resent their moral authority
  • kings seek alliances through marriage
  • enemies call them “self-righteous saints”

Rumors say the unicorn on their banner is not symbolic  that the bloodline was blessed centuries ago by a mythical white unicorn in an enchanted forest.

Because of this, some believe:

  • a Pharelumière cannot willingly commit treachery
  • their line is protected by divine light
  • Celestine may become a legendary saint after death
